That's what he'll tell you if you ask why he had black & blue eyes (this picture taken before the bruising appeared). Gate-surfing is when you hop on a metal gate that is opening downhill (and gaining momentum)... when the gate abruptly stops and gate & surfer's head have collided, then surfer falls off gate into mud.
